A freelance developer is working on a new hiking app called WalkScape inspired by the classic MMORPG RuneScape. The mobile app allows players to complete missions, increase stats, and experience a fantasy adventure simply by walking.

The original RuneScape Gold was released in 2001 and two decades later it still has an active community. RuneScape had a tremendous impact on MMOs and RPGs in general, and probably inspired a whole generation of game developers. However, most people probably can't imagine that such inspiration would drive someone to create a fantasy RPG walking app.

WalkScape is an upcoming app for Android devices, with an iOS version coming soon. The game takes place in a fantasy world called Arenam, which contains three countries and many locations with a surprisingly deep knowledge of fitness games. Players of the OSRS Gold-inspired tutorial will be able to explore the map, complete quests, participate in random encounters, progress through the main story, and level up to more than 20 different abilities as you progress. WalkScape will also have leaderboards, a global marketplace, and other community features.

The developer has also uploaded screenshots to Reddit and Twitter giving some ideas of what the game might look like. It features the player traveling from a place called Disillusioned Forest to a town called Callaheim. In addition, information such as the number of steps left, the number of update steps, the update process, and success are displayed. The WalkScape Twitter account also featured pixel art sprites and knowledge of the game's various lands. This mobile fitness game does not contain in-game music or sound effects, but this may change in the future.

WalkScape was developed independently by computer science students, who describe it as a "30% fitness app and 70% game" and say it will be free and open source at launch. However, they consider subscribing to server maintenance when the number of users increases. 24/7 Support Buy RS GP at rsgoldfast - Best Deal Guaranteed No word on pricing but WalkScape will use the same monetization strategy as Old School RuneScape. Players will be able to experience tons of content for free but will have to pay a subscription fee to access everything.

WalkScape doesn't have a set release date, but fans can follow the progress on Reddit, Twitter, and Discord. This summer, the developers also plan to release a closed beta version of the RuneScape-inspired fitness RPG. I hope RuneScape Inspiration will appeal to fans of the old but still popular MMORPG.
