Runescape is a nostalgic classic. Most of us probably play this game with our parents' huge '00s computers and dodgy dial-up internet - but for some recent Venezuelan gamers, it's a different story. Back in 2018, Kotaku reported that some players in the country were growing gold by bypassing the OSRS gold game's controversial real-world trading rules. According to a player calling himself “Fhynal,” mining gold on Runescape has proven to be safer than getting a job in Venezuela.
"I grow gold mainly for its original benefit," he told Kotaku. "I don't have to go out. It may sound weird, but we live with a lot of crime. If you want to go out, you have to use the bus, [which increases your] propensity to be robbed."
Fhynal said he earns about $19 to $26 a week from Runescape, which adds up to "double and sometimes triple" the average monthly salary in Venezuela.
Admittedly, the world of the online economy is a bit crazy - but considering it mirrors the ins and outs of the real world economy (which may be just as ridiculous), it's one way to get you thinking about cheap Runescape gold how to protect your money.
