Our AuthorsTrader Steve’s Journey Across Gielinor: The Quest for Rare Items and a Quest Cape
If you’ve been following along, you know that Trader Steve has embarked on an ambitious quest to collect rare items across Gielinor, with the ultimate goal of obtaining a Quest Cape. In this episode, we’ll delve into his adventures as he explores new money-making methods, tackles Tombs of Amascut raids, and engages with the latest updates in Old School RuneScape (OSRS), including the Forestry update. Buckle up, because it’s going to be an exciting ride!
The Grand Exchange Chunk and Rare Items
Trader Steve started his journey in a Grand Exchange chunk, which provides access to some of the game’s most valuable items and resources. For every rare item worth more than 1 million OSRS gold that Steve adds to his collection, he can unlock a new adjacent chunk. This system keeps his quest dynamic and challenging, as he’s always on the lookout for valuable items that can further his progress.
In the previous episode, Steve completed his first 50 raids at the Tombs of Amascut, and while his initial purple drop wasn’t the most coveted, the achievement was significant. Soloing a purple drop is no small feat, and Steve’s success has motivated him to continue raiding, hoping for more valuable rewards. But Steve isn’t putting all his eggs in one basket; he’s also exploring other money-making methods to fund his journey.
Profits from Forestry Update
Forestry, the latest update in OSRS, has introduced several new money-making opportunities, and Steve is eager to take advantage of them. One particularly profitable method he discovered involves making Forester’s Rations. By preparing these rations, Steve can generate significant profits—approximately 900k GP for every 28,000 rations made in just 30 minutes. This method not only provides a steady stream of income but also contributes to Steve’s cooking experience.
But the Forestry update isn’t just about rations. Steve has also explored other new features like bonfires, which allow for passive Firemaking training while chopping trees. This dual-purpose activity offers both experience and financial gains, as it’s possible to sell the items produced for a decent profit.
The Anima Bark Market
An interesting component of the Forestry update is Anima Bark, a valuable resource used in creating various items. Steve noticed that by having items that spawn Forestry events in his inventory, he could significantly increase the amount of Anima Bark he collected. He decided to invest in items like padded spoons, petal circles, and trap this armor to boost his Anima Bark yields.
Steve’s most lucrative venture was with Egg Cushions. By purchasing Egg Cushions for around 80k GP each and converting them into Padded Spoons, he made substantial profits. Each batch of Egg Cushions generated around 700k GP in profit, proving that this method is incredibly effective for both making money and training Mining experience. With 650 Padded Spoons crafted, Steve made a profit of approximately 2 million GP.
New Chunk Unlocks and Gear Upgrades
As Steve’s cash stack grew, he started investing in valuable items to enhance his gameplay. For example, he purchased the Idus Ward, a strong item that requires 80 Prayer to equip. Although Steve currently lacks the Prayer level, he plans to train it in the future to fully utilize this powerful item.
Additionally, Steve made significant progress in his quest to unlock Dragon Slayer I, which is crucial for obtaining the Fire Cape. By completing this quest, Steve gained access to the Morytania area and the coveted Fire Cape—a significant upgrade providing a +4 Strength bonus.
The Fire Cape and Future Goals
Securing the Fire Cape was a major milestone for Steve, as it represents a substantial upgrade to his melee capabilities. With 90+ Ranged, a Blowpipe, and other high-quality gear, Steve found the Fire Cape challenge relatively straightforward, demonstrating his preparation and skill. This achievement not only enhances his combat effectiveness but also signifies a key step toward his ultimate goal of obtaining a Quest Cape.
Exploring New Forester Items
The Forestry update also introduced several new items with profit potential. Steve explored items like Crystal Charms and Pedal Circles, finding that converting Crystal Charms into Pedal Circles yielded approximately 10k GP per charm, translating to easy profits. By buying in bulk and reselling, Steve could quickly accumulate wealth, further supporting his journey across Gielinor.
The Road Ahead
Trader Steve’s journey is far from over. With his newly acquired items and profits, he’s set to unlock more chunks, tackle new challenges, and continue his quest for rare items. The dynamic nature of OSRS, combined with the new Forestry update and other in-game activities, ensures that Steve’s adventure remains engaging and profitable.
In summary, Trader Steve’s journey across Gielinor showcases the excitement and complexity of OSRS. From raiding Tombs of Amascut to exploiting new money-making methods introduced by the Forestry update, Steve’s progress is a testament to the game’s depth and the thrill of collecting rare items. As he moves closer to his ultimate goal of obtaining a Quest Cape, we can’t wait to see what new challenges and opportunities lie ahead for this intrepid explorer.
Stay tuned for more updates on Trader Steve’s adventure, and may your own journey through Gielinor be as rewarding and exciting as his!
